Brown Fused Alumina

Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) is produced by a reduction fusion of high quality bauxites in electric arc furnaces. It is both a hard and tough material with high strength, making it an excellent abrasive grain for applications such as grinding wheels, sandpaper, blasting media, metal preparation, lapping, polishing, and grinding. Its thermal properties make it an excellent raw material for refractory applications.

BTUS

Crushed and sized in the USA. Due to its high toughness, BTUS is recommended for use in grinding wheels, cutoff wheels, points, blasting abrasives, etc...

BT - R

Due to its high toughness, is recommended for high performance grinding wheels.

BTCAL - R

BTCAL is heat treated in a rotary kiln at high temperatures and magnetic treated. These procedures guarantee low iron content and high toughness. BTCAL is recommended for high performance grinding wheels.

MAXCAL - R (Low Titania BFA)

MAXCAL is a special brown fused aluminum oxide developed for high performance abrasive products. MAXCAL is low titania content product, heat treated in a rotary kiln at high temperatures and magnetic treated. These procedures guarantee low iron content and excellent grit stability.

ALOMAX - R (Semi-Friable BFA)

ALOMAX is a semi friable brown fused aluminum oxide that presents good toughness and excellent abrasion properties and is recommended for high performance bonded abrasives.

SFAR- R (Semi-Friable BFA)

SFAR is a semi-friable brown fused aluminum oxide. In order to improve its quality, this material is calcined and presents low dust content. It is recommended for high performance bonded abrasives.

SFARBF- R (Semi-Friable BFA)

SFARBF is a semi-friable brown fused aluminum oxide. SFARBF is heat treated in high temperatures and these procedures guarantee stress relief and high toughness. SFARBF is recommended for high performance grinding wheels.

TB - R (Friable BFA)

TB is a friable brown fused aluminum oxide. TB presents an excellent cost/benefit relation, being recommended for resin-bonded abrasives and cut-off wheels.

BTUS

BT - L

MAXCAL - L (Low Titania BFA)

SFARBF - L (Semi-Friable BFA)

SFARBF is a semi-friable brown fused aluminum oxide. SFARBF receives heat treatment giving better grain cutting performance to increased toughness and constant replacement of edges of the grains can be used in extreme applications. This material has excellent properties for applications in sensitive steels.

TB - L (Friable BFA)

TB is a friable brown fused aluminum oxide. TB presents an excellent cost/benefit relation, being recommended for wood and drywall coated abrasives.

Brown Fused Alumina - Refractories & Ceramics

BTUS

Due to its high toughness and thermal properties, BTUS is recommended for use general refractory applications.

AR

AR presents an excellent cost/benefit relation, being recommended for refractory application where a high iron content is not an issue.

ALOCAL

ALOCAL is heat treated in a rotary kiln at high temperatures and magnetic treated. These procedures guarantee low iron content in the product and it is recommended for refractory applications.

ALOTAB

ALOTAB is a brown fused aluminum oxide that has had more reduction than AR product so it has higher Al2O3 content (97%). It is recommended for refractory applications.

TB

TB presents an excellent cost/benefit relation, being recommended for refractory application where a high iron content is not an issue.
